Whether you volunteer through your student's school or individually, please feel free to sign up! Consult the volunteer information, then click on this SignUp Link to pick a shift. We encourage you to sign up under ANY shift, regardless of school assignment. Note: We accept donations year-round. Please make sure items are clean and bagged before depositing in the green bin outside the store on Tesoro Drive. Thanks!
Purpose
To help students (Pre K-12) in our district, whose families or guardians may be economically challenged, by providing new and/or gently used clothing for school that meets the NEISD Dress Code.
How it Works
Families will be confidentially referred by a school representative (Nurse, Counselor or Family Specialist). The representative will provide a voucher for each qualifying student in the family. The family will be able to "shop" (no cost) at the Clothes Closet for the following items: 5 tops, 5 bottoms, 5 new socks & 5 new underwear (per semester), and 3 coats or jackets (per school year).

Please feel free to place your donations in our secure donation bin in front of the store at 8758 Tesoro Drive.
We accept the following:
New, or gently used, dress code appropriate clothing
New socks and underwear
Items purchased from the most needed Items list at the top of the page
Items purchased from our Amazon Wish List
Monetary donations at https://necpta-clothes-closet.cheddarup.com

The following items will be recycled:
Used socks and underwear
Items that are ripped, torn, stretched, stained, faded, out of style, out of compliance with school dress code
Miscellaneous clothing and textiles (bathing suits, pajamas, sheets, towels, etc.)
Unlaundered items
Guidelines regarding what clothing donations are and are not accepted are available in English & Spanish. Feel free to print and post at your school. Large donations should be made during operating hours.
Clothes Closet Rep Duties & Volunteer Information

Distribute the Clothes Closet Volunteer Information to your PTA volunteers prior to their day at the Clothes Closet so they can be familiar with their duties.
Hold clothing drives. Please contact the Chair before collection to get a current list of most needed items.
Attend Clothes Closet training.
Donate laundered Lost & Found clothing to the Clothes Closet each semester.

Clothes Closet Impact
We served 1000 students from 326 families across NEISD during the 2023-2024 school year. As the need increases, so does our opportunity to invest our time and resources in our students.
What does the Clothes Closet need to be prepared to provide?
When 1 student is referred, Clothes Closet prepares to supply that student with (per school year):
10 new pairs of underwear
10 new pairs of socks
10 new or gently used bottoms
10 new or gently used tops
3 new or gently used pieces of outerwear
