2017-18 Chairperson: Brooke Pate
“The greatest gift you can give a child, is your time.”
Volunteering in our local schools provides our students with adult role models, an enriched learning environment, and bridges the gap between home and school. NEISD has been able to provide top notch quality education because of the countless hours our parent volunteers have contributed to the local schools. Join us today and make a difference!
Get DPS Cleared! If you would like to volunteer at a school in your area:
- Apply for DPS Clearance through North East ISD. Must be cleared by the Department of Public Safety prior to volunteering at the local school.
- Contact your school’s PTA Volunteer Coordinator (see Local Units Directory page).
- Attend Volunteer Orientation sponsored by your local PTA.
Log Home Hours in V-Volunteer: Please also note that any volunteer hours completed at home can be logged on V-Volunteer. If you do not have a V-Volunteer account, please email Brooke Pate at firstname.lastname@example.org. Brooke will email you a temporary password so that you can set up your V-Volunteer account.
Use a Volunteer Scheduling Software: As volunteer coordinator at your school, reach out to more parents by using a free volunteer scheduling software, such as signup.com or jooners.com. Signup.com allows volunteers to see which shifts are full and which are desperately light as well as to receive reminders regarding their shift.
Student Volunteer Tracking: Students are now able to record volunteer hours and sign up for volunteer activities through the District Website. All students are able to log their hours through the student portal. Parents are able to log in to the system to help their student record hours through the parent portal if needed. Council PTA will recognize students that achieve the district set milestones with an award certificate ponied to their school. Click HERE for more information.
NEISD 360 Connect: Organizations looking for student volunteers can apply to NEISD 360 Connect. Once your organization is approved, the organization can post one time and recurring volunteer activities to the district’s students. Click HERE for more information.
If you have any questions, please contact our Council/District Volunteer Director, Brooke Pate.
If you are currently the Volunteer Coordinator at your local PTA, be sure to attend the Volunteer workshop on September 21, 2017, 9:30 am, RAMEC. This workshop will provide you with ideas on how to recruit, manage and retain happy and productive volunteers on your campus. If you missed this workshop, you may contact Brooke Pate to receive the handouts from the workshop.
